Book Review : The White Tiger - Aravind Adiga

A good read.
Don't know how time flew with the book and finished It in 2 days.

It’s a critic of the Indian society and is wrote in such a way that a reader from India will feel sad reading it. But, Aravind said in an interview that, just like books of Charles Dickens and other European writers shaped the society of Europe in the 19th century, his book tends to shape the Indian society in this 20th century.

The book is about a person - Munna/ Balram, a man in darkness of a backward class sweet maker family. The plot is how this person turns out to be an entrepreneur from there. The story is narrated as first person by Munna. He tells about a rooster coop system which pulls back backward people when they try to escape and go into the light.

Balram was driver of Ashok who is a return from US. This social novel also highlight the corrupt Indian society and says India is swallowed in corruption. He says that its a never ending loop. The politician takes money from tax evaders and police take money  from shop owners making the whole society corrupt and the best part is all are happy with it.

He labels himself as a White Tiger - A once at a time rare species.

As the story unfolds he explains how he cold bloodedly killed his master Ashok and ran with the money which was meant to bribe a minister and turns out to be an entrepreneur.

Most stories will just take you there and stop. But Aravind Adiga goes a step forward and explains how Munna establishes a business in the heart of Bangalore city by giving bribes to police who took the money even when he was on the wanted list for murder and that notice is there in that police station just behind the cop.

He says that his family would have already paid the price for the murder and would have been killed in his village laxmangarh.

For the work, Aravind won the man booker prize in 2008.

Why do this world keep dividing?

Once, 100 people boarded a boat and had quite some time to talk.
During the talking they started taking sides. It started when a statement by a passenger saying "As always you people from the south are not trustworthy".
The group of 100 split into 2. North and south.
Then as the group was moving on, small debates happened in the groups further dividing them into states.
States divided to districts, and districts became religion, religion divided into caste and caste into family.
And finally just 2 people were together.
And, a quarrel broke out and one said "U always think women are inferior to man!"

Why is this country polarised?
Isn't unity in diversity working?
Some people say that India is united only during cricket matches and war? is it after all true?

Then you might end up saying isn't the whole idea of association creating polarisation?
No it isn't and it shouldn't. Associations are meant for keeping the culture of the particular society/group. If such associations and informal groups are not formed, the cultural backgrounds of each and every of our diverse states will be lost. But, make that the only purpose of keeping an association.
One should never say to vote for a candidate for this post just because he is from your state.
One should do favouritism to a person from his state.

Let us look the merit in each of us. Let us ask questions which creates unity rather than divide.

How many humans in this crowd?

Is google making us stupid? Are we loosing memory?

Is google making us stupid?
Are mobile phones making us forget the numbers you always carried in your memory?
Is facebook diluting the relationships which requires us to stay near a person?

Well there is nothing to worry.
Aristotle and plato used to give questions to their students and their answers they had to experiment/investigate and find by themselves.

Many debate that this is the actually way of teaching.
But, in modern times there is no time to waste on discoveries which are already made.

Similarly there are much better and fruitful things to be done rather than mugging up those numbers or studying full stuffs such that you dont have to access google.
The ambit of what you should know has increased and now even if you dont know exactly what it is, atleast you should know where to find it just the same logic as an 'open book test'.
Thats where google has a hand.

Everything is this world is progressing and life is made much simpler.

The purpose of making like simple is not that you may sit and relax rather it is to invest more time in your dreams and make the world an even better place to dwell.

Keep discovering new things!!
